Robotic Cataract Surgery

Times are now dominated by AI and Robotics. This age of transition has seen influencing the limits in Ophthalmology as well.
How far can we go? Is it reliable? Is it safe? Would any one take the risk of experimenting on oneself?
As a matter of fact it’s still evolving. How far can it replace the human acumen, precision and instincts remains a time tested testimony.
The current day scenario is very modest in terms of its application. We are whole bunch of ophthalmologists brutally trained for 10-15 yrs to the utmost precision and complexity. The machine is yet to catch up with us.
Robotic Cataract surgery is limited to marking the incision , creating a neat round capsulorrhexis ( an opening in the capsulorrhexis) and splitting the cataract into smaller quadrants, and leaving the better part at surgeons mercy.
So to say Robotic Cataract Surgery is a mere propaganda tool for hoardings and billboards than serving its actual purpose.
So even if you thought you couldn’t go for Robotic Cataract surgery, you haven’t missed anything. Your visual outcome will still depend on surgeons skills and acumen.
Be informed, Be wise and avoid burning a hole in your pocket with a bill that seems unnecessary.
