What are different types of Intra-Articular Injection?

Corticosteroids
Corticosteroids reduces local inflammation by repressing the development of inflammatory cells that are normally delivered because intense physical movement at the joint
Side effects
injection site pain, skin pigmentation or discolouration, septic arthritits and atrophy in rare cases.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found in synovial fluids that lubricates the joints. With age this fluid diminishes in quantity leading to erosion of joint cartilage, as happens in osteoarthritis. Intraarticular hyaluronic acid injection can provide lubrication to the joints and prevent furter damage to bony cartilage. This therapy is advised in early cases of osteoarthritis. Advanced joint damage may require joint replacemet only.
Side effects
Muscle pain and stiffness, joint pain, swelling or redness around the joint and allergic reaction in rare cases.
Local Anesthetics
Local Anesthetics can be injected in intra articular space to relieve acute pain.
Side effects
Same as for any intrarticular infections.
